Whale kills trainer as horrified spectators watch
ORLANDO, Fla. – A SeaWorld killer whale seized a trainer in its jaws Wednesday and thrashed the woman around underwater, killing her in front of a horrified audience. It marked the third time the animal had been involved in a human death.
Distraught audience members were hustled out of the stadium immediately, and the park was closed.
Trainer Dawn Brancheau, 40, was one of the park's most experienced. It was not clear if she drowned or died from the thrashing.

That's why they call them "Killer Wales."

"Towards thee I roll, thou all-destroying but unconquering whale; to the last I grapple with thee; from hell’s heart I stab at thee; for hate’s sake I spit my last breath at thee. Sink all coffins and all hearses to one common pool! and since neither can be mine, let me then tow to pieces, while still chasing thee, though tied to thee, thou damned whale!"
Whatever you say, Khan!
Khan only recited the middle part of Ahab's speech: "No. No, you can't get away; 'from hell’s heart I stab at thee; for hate’s sake I spit my last breath at thee.'"
His dad was Chekhov?
Yep.
Weird segue too, from post 2627.

He who God wants to punish, first makes successful in show business.
The industry does seem to have a penchant for chewing people up and spitting them out.
Would you characterize it as uniformly unethical or corrupt, or just those parts of it involved directly with fame and glamor?
I think the industry takes a lot of 'creative' people, who can be right-brained, impulsive and insecure, surrounds them with sycophants, and then throws a f_ck of a lot of money at them.
In a very public forum.
This... is a recipe for disaster.
Did Mr. Haim kill himself or accidentally overdose?
The obit I read suggested "accidental" from mixing OTC drugs with prescribed ones for the "flu" he had. I also read one story that said he at one time took 85 valium a day.
So he could easily have died of liver failure.
He was in a few movies but maybe he just wasn't that talented. Yes, it's sad but not everyone has a lasting career in show business.
Merlin Olsen
Oh no...I loved him in football and on TV.
Always seemed like a good guy. He was only 69 too. Those NFL guys don't last.
Cancer knows no age...or occupation.
